Following the effects of storm Gertrude and the remnants of the storm that hit the East coast of the United States last weekend, another weather system is expected to hit the UK in the early hours of Monday morning.

Storm force gusts are predicted for many areas, particularly across Scotland, Northern Ireland and northern England. This will be accompanied by persistent rain across most of the country. On top of the wet and windy weather that’s been prevalent across the northwest of England and western Scotland for the preceding week this additional rainfall is very likely to cause localised flooding.

Flood Warnings

The Environment Agency and the Scottish Environment Protection Agency has 51 flood warnings and 64 flood alerts in place:

• 8 flood warnings (Flooding is expected. Immediate action required) – 4 in the northwest and 4 in the south of England
• 42 flood alerts (Flooding is possible. Be prepared) – in English coastal areas and districts vulnerable to groundwater flooding
• Scotland has 43 flood warnings and 15 flood alerts – including around Aberdeen and Tayside
• Wales has 7 flood alerts in place

24-Hour Emergency HelpLine

We’ve had additional staff working extended hours on our 24/7 emergency HelpLine since Thursday evening and – given the current weather forecast – this will continue into the coming weekend.

Loss Adjusting Teams Ready to Respond

We have field adjusters and support teams located in all the current flood-affected zones and we’re ready to respond if further flooding should affect any of these areas.

Our flood response teams are also on standby to move to any UK districts that are hit by this latest bout of wet and windy weather.

Claims Centres Our claims centres in Cardiff and Glasgow will be open this weekend dealing with existing claims and ready to receive and action any new losses.
